Aftershocks
The small Tatenwa tribe has managed to subsist in the arid mountains of Amantic. They are lead by two queens, a hot-headed huntress and her younger half-sister. They are accompanied by the older queen’s twin cousins: a no nonsense, pragmatic young woman and her flightier sister; and younger queen’s caretakers: her stepmother and her blind-but-prophetic full sister. The remainder of the warriors composes of many of the queens’ relatives, along with a number of freed slaves who proved themselves as capable warriors.
Then, one day, the entire mountain region is rocked by an earthquake in a series of natural disasters that strike Amantic, completely wiping out neighboring tribes and leaving the Tatenwa fragmented. They, along with refugees from various surviving tribes, must learn how to survive in their changed world.
Please forgive me for sort of ripping off Avatar, and various other tribal-esque stories. This just...kind of happened.
THE HOT-HEADED HUNTRESS QUEEN (Dania Ramirez) - Mitet Dala
MITET: How can you expect me to sit here and wait? My people are out there!
OTALLO: Wait, Dala, wait. We cannot upset the balance more.
MITET: Damn the balance! Henira is out there too. What kind of mother are you?
OTALLO: I am not her mother.
THE YOUNGER QUEEN (Shelbie Bruce) - Henira Dala-ma
NAMOEL: What is it?
HENIRA: Everything’s gone, sister. There isn’t anything left. Here, don’t you see?
NAMOEL: I see.
THE TWIN COUSINS (Paula Patton) - Salokmi and Satosha
SALOKMI: Mitet, there’s no point to this. Let’s go.
MITET: Did you hear what she said?
SALOKMI: I did, but you’re not doing anyone any good by bleeding out.
SATOSHA: How can you do that? How can you just decide that people deserve to die?
SALOKMI: If we’re going to survive, Tosha, we need to decide.
THE STEPMOTHER (Sonia Manzano) - Otallo
OTALLO: I don’t trust them; they came out of no where.
SALOKMI: What are we supposed to do? Leave them out to die? They’re from the North; they won’t survive here unless we take them in.
OTALLO: I’m sleeping with a knife tonight.
THE BLIND SISTER (Amber Rose Revah) - Namoel
NAMOEL: Don’t you see? We’ve been given a chance to rebuild.
HENIRA: Rebuild what? Everything was fine the way it was before!
NAMOEL: Only what you can see.
THE MALE BADUU WARRIOR (Sami Darr) – Tamon
TAMON: Your people have lived at the mercy of the Baduu for centuries.
MITET: Things are different now. We survived.
TAMON: Not yet you haven’t.
TAMON'S WIFE (Mila Kunis) - Isa
HENIRA: Your hair is different. Why?
ISA: I’m not from the mountains.
HENIRA: I can see that. But why?
ISA: My people are the Gaguren of the east.
