This is for the Twelve Days/Themes Challenge @ the NejiTen LJ. Well, here goes.
Title: Twelve Ways to Look at NejiTen
Author:
katakokk
Rating: K/K+
Note: This is based off of Wallace Steven's "Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird." I mentioned I would do this a long time ago, but never got around to it.
DISCLAIMER: I do not own Naruto.
I.
Among the age-old trees,
in the hazy mist of the dawn,
Neji and Tenten trained.
II.
The doves fly free in rejoice of a union.
They were a small segment of an elaborate Hyuuga celebration.
III.
I was of three minds,
like a table,
upon which the three ceremonial glasses of wine sit.
IV.
Soft, enveloping warmth fills the air
with a simple sweetness.
The echo of her call danced
with “the springtime of youth.”
The sharpened destruction
aims true
toward the figure standing turned.
V.
Neji and Tenten
are two.
Neji, Tenten, and a pair of hidden rings
are one.
VI.
I do not know which to prefer
the simple longing of the caged bird,
or the soar of its freed wings.
Its moment of discovery,
or the small eggs, never to be marked.
VII.
I know of the river
and its replenishing gift of life.
But I know, too,
of the darkness of its hell
where you cannot swim.
VIII.
At the sight of the maid of destruction
dancing in the raging storm,
even the coldest and most indifferent
stand in awe.
IX.
O most revered shinobi,
cherish love in this world of war,
maketh her your Queen of light
in the dark.
X.
When the King is gone from the world,
he will mark
the collapse of a soul.
XI.
The flute of the ghost
does not play only for special ramen.
Hear its resonance in the air,
take your lover,
and rejoice.
XII.
It was morning all night.
They were training,
and they were going to train.
The steady drum of two hearts
that reached over everything for the other.
